OHIO
GRADUATION TEST (OGT)
To
help provide you with the latest information about the OGT from the Ohio
Department of Education, the website address is being provided at the end
of this page. When you get to
the site, you will see the new academic content standards for mathematics
as the first item listed. Next
will be the sample items for the test.
Please note that there are “36 multiple-choice items, 5
short-answer items (one for each content standard/reporting category) and
2 extended-response items… The test will include 43 items with a total
value of 54 points.” (pg. 4) Also
included are the types of questions given – low complexity, moderate
complexity, and high complexity. The
samples given list the question, where it is taken from, the answer, the
point value and the type of complexity involved.
Please note that there are questions borrowed as examples from
tests given in Massachusetts, Maryland, Texas, etc.
On pages 18-19 there are a pages for teachers called “Tips for
Teachers.” Take the time to
read through these. The next important piece is the calculator guide.
An explanation on key usage is given as well as a short example.
At the end is a call-for-help page.
If you’re not sure about the care of the calculator, this is
provided in the next document. The last item is the one of most value to the
students. It is the Ohio
Graduation Test Mathematics Reference Sheet.
This will be provided to each student as they take the test. Please explore the site. Practice early and often before the March test dates. http://www.ode.state.oh.us/proficiency/OGT/default.asp
