Weidus – Mathematics Consultant Welcome to the Clermont County Educational
Service Center’s Mathematics web page.
We would like you to explore what is new in the area of mathematics
education. Included will be
the latest on Best Practices, updates on the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT),
as well as the web address for the Ohio Department of Education’s
mathematics standards and benchmarks. We have available in floppy or cd form our new mathematics alignment toolkit, which aligns to the benchmarks and grade level indicators per grade level. Included are columns for timeframes, Bloom’s taxonomy levels, along with two other columns of importance. The first of those two would be the assessment column. Teachers need to design with the end in mind. Look at the power verbs being used in the benchmark. Check next what power verb/s is being used in the grade level indicator. Design your assessment. Now the last column, activities, can be developed so that there is a match with the activities to the assessment. For a broad overview of mathematics get a copy of Principles
and Standards for School Mathematics (PSSM). This comprehensive document is produced by the National
Council of the Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
