REPORTING CHILD ABUSE
All employees of the Educational Service Center having reason to believe
that a child under 18 years of age or a handicapped child under 21 years of
age has suffered abuse/neglect are required to report such information to
appropriate authorities.
Procedures for reporting will be made known to the school staff; reports
will be made promptly. A person who participates in making such reports is
immune from any criminal liability provided the report is made in good
faith.
The Superintendent shall develop a program of in-service training in child
abuse prevention for all elementary school nurses, teachers, counselors,
school psychologists and administrators. The Board shall develop this
program in consultation with public or private agencies or persons involved
in child abuse prevention or intervention programs.
Each person employed by the Governing Board to work as an elementary school
nurse, teacher, counselor, school psychologist or administrator shall
complete at least four hours of in-service training in child abuse
prevention within three years of commencing employment with the Educational
Service Center.
