STAFF PARTICIPATION IN POLITICAL ACTIVITIES
The Governing Board recognizes the right of its employees, as citizens to
engage in political activity. However, the Governing Board also recognizes
that Educational Service Center property and school time, paid for by all
the people not be used for political purposes.
The Governing Board adopts the following guidelines for those staff
members who intend to engage in political activities:
1. No employee shall engage in political activities upon property under
the jurisdiction of the Governing Board unless the Governing Board has
granted permission for that purpose.
2. The use of students for writing or addressing political materials or
the distribution of such materials via students is forbidden.
3. The display of any materials that would promote the candidacy of any
candidate in a facility of this Educational Service Center used as a
polling place on an officially declared election day is prohibited.
4. In connection with campaigning, no employee will use Educational
Service Center time, moneys, facilities, equipment or supplies nor will
the employee discuss the campaign with personnel or students during the
working day.
Governing Board employees who hold elective or appointive office are not
entitled to time off from their duties for reasons incident to such
offices, except as such time may qualify under the leave policies of the
Governing Board.
Employees who absent themselves from assigned duties without permission
may be deemed insubordinate and penalized accordingly.
