DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE POLICY AND AWARENESS PROGRAM

It is the responsibility of the Clermont Governing Board of Educational Service Center to establish a drug-free workplace. Drug or alcohol abuse in the workplace is dangerous and can lead to harm to not only the person abusing drugs or alcohol but also to fellow employees and students.

No employee shall unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense or possess or use any narcotic drug, hallucinogenic drug, amphetamine, barbiturate, marijuana, alcohol or any other controlled substance as defined in Federal and State law, in the workplace.

"Workplace" is the site for the performance of any work done in connection with the Clermont Governing Board of Educational Service Center. The workplace includes any school building, school property, school-owed vehicles or school-approved vehicle used to transport students to and from school or school activities (at other sites off school property) or any school-sponsored or school related activity, event or function, such as a field trip or athletic event in which students are under the jurisdiction of the school authorities.

For these reasons, the Clermont Governing Board of Educational Service Center is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace, and will enforce a policy requiring all employees to refrain from use, sale, purchase, possession or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on the job, on school premises, or on or while using school equipment. Employees who fail to comply with this policy will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination from employment.

Any employee convicted of an offense under a criminal drug statute must report his/her conviction to the administration no later than five working days after the conviction. Failure to do so will result in discipline up to and including termination from employment.

The Governing Board of Education does not maintain a drug/alcohol rehabilitation program, but the following are programs within the community available to employees who need help with a drug or alcohol problem:
