PROGRAMS FOR HANDICAPPED/DISABLED STUDENTS
The Governing Board is committed to assisting the districts in providing
education for all youth of compulsory age who are legal residents of
Clermont County. All handicapped/disabled students of the County will be
identified, evaluated and placed in appropriate educational programs. Due
process requirements, procedural safeguards and confidential treatment of
information will be adhered to as provided for in Ohio Department of
Education Standards.
The Assistant Superintendent of Special Education is expected to supervise
and coordinate all special education programs. He/She will be responsible
for supervising staff and the identification of handicapped/disabled
students, the diagnosis of handicaps, the design of individual educational
programs and plans for these students and for placement and evaluation
procedures. All procedures will be in accordance with Federal and State
requirements.
The purpose of special education classes is to recognize each child as a
unique individual, coming to us with varying aspirations, abilities,
interests and needs.
The individual plan determined for each student will be developed in
accordance with the student's individual assessed needs. The plan will
provide for frequent re-evaluation of the student's needs, progress and
effectiveness of the program being offered.
Each handicapped/disabled student will be considered individually relative
to his/her participation in the competency-based educational program,
proficiency testing program and achievement /ability testing programs.
